I am believer for close to a year now and am in a committed relationship. The thing is while we were unsaved i had no problems accepting money from him. He helps me with traveling expenses for school and whatever else my parents may not be able to give me at times. I am also a second year college student. I do not know if i should accept money from him knowing that although we are committed, we are not married. I recently rejected money from him and he was quite upset. I know his intentions are to help and nothing more but it is okay? Also we may be getting married in less than a year.
Nancy’s Relationship Advice:
From what you have described, I do not see anything wrong with accepting your fiancees' monetary help. You are in an established, committed relationship with a man you are going to marry and he is showing his support for your continued education and furthering your dreams in this manner. It would be one think to accept money from a man you were only dating, but this does not appear to be the case. In the Bible, Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord." So when your fiancee helps you out and is supportive of the dreams and desires that God has placed in your heart, he is not only fulfilling his duty as your future husband, but also is receiving many blessings from God by helping you reach your goals.
